Man on the run after killing mother over property dispute in Greater Noida

Greater Noida: An elderly woman was allegedly murdered by her son in Jharcha area of Greater Noida on Monday morning, while two of his brothers sustained injuries. Noida Police are investigating the from the angle of property dispute.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shakuntala (62), who was asleep when her eldest son Ajit (35) attacked her. He also attacked his two brothers, identified as Jitnedra and Pushpendra.
"Shakuntala was sleeping in her room when around 5 am on Monday, Ajit came to her room and started attacking her with an iron rod. On hearing her cries, her two other sons reached the spot and tried to control Ajit, but he injured both of them and fled the spot," said Nishank Sharma, Circle Officer (Dadri).
Police said that the accused went absconding after the incident and teams have been formed to nab him.
"Prima facie investigation shows property dispute as the motive behind the crime. The accused son was asking for his share in property and wanted to get separated from the family.
"On Sunday night, the accused was involved in a dispute over the division of money and property with his mother and as she was opposing the division of property, he murdered her with an iron road," added Sharma.
According to a senior police official, the victims were rushed to a hospital in Ghaziabad by some neighbours, who later made a call to police control room to inform them about the incident.
"Shakuntala was declared dead on arrival while the other two are battling for their lives at the hospital," a police official said.
Police have booked Ajit under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
