Man killed, father injured while trying to stop car lifters

New Delhi: Trying to stop thieves from stealing a car in their area, a man was killed and his father left critically injured in south east Delhi's Jaitpur early Saturday morning.
As the father-son duo tried to take the keys out of the car to stop it, the culprits drove it rashly, dragging both victims along with the car.
Police said the deceased was identified as Vishal, who lived with his family in Jaitpur. His father as Mohan is currently undergoing treatment.
DCP (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said a PCR call was made to Jaitpur police station about the incident at 4.20 am.
"MLC received from AIIMS Trauma Center stated that 25-year-old Vishal, admitted by his sister Shivani, was declared brought dead. His father Mohan received injuries and was admitted," said Biswal.
During the investigation, a crime team of Delhi Police learnt that two car thieves had come to the area in a four-wheeler and attempted to steal the vehicles parked in the area.
Shivani and her brother Rohit saw the two accused and informed their brother Vishal and father Mohan about it, who immediately came out. On seeing the two, the theives tried to flee.
"The father and son tried to stop the car by taking out the key from the car. In the process, the thieves rashly drove the car and dragged them along," said a senior police official, adding that both victims received severe injuries in the process.
Police said they are scanning footage of CCTV cameras in the area and questioning locals. A case under appropriate sections was registered at Jaitpur police station.
