Man in car held with 52-kg of Ganja in Gurugram

A person was arrested on Sunday night with 52 kg of Ganja in a car in Gurugram's MDI Chowk.
The driver, who has been identified as Amit, was coming from Delhi and was going towards Rajiv Nagar area in Old Gurugram.
He will be charged under Section 20-61-85 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act.
According to the police, Amit was arrested after source based information highlighted that a drug peddler with a huge consignment of drugs was coming to the city.
After the information, the police set up a check post at MDI Chowk that adjoins the NH-8 where each vehicle was surveyed by the police personnel that ultimately led to the arrest.
"Based on our interrogations, we will try to find out that how many people are involved in the sale of drugs and will take further course of action thereafter," said s senior official from Gurugram police.
Selling of drugs for long has been a major law and order challenge in the city.
Last month, more than 400 kg of Marijuana was seized by Gurugram Police.
Earlier in 2015, in two separate incidents, over 200 kg and 300 kg of Ganja was held in the city.
In July 6 this year, a 26-year-old died of drug overdose at Tigra village. There were angry protests by the villagers over his death who mentioned that there was no action taken by the city authorities on the open selling of drugs.
