Man found hanging in shop; police probe selfie connection

New Delhi: A 36-year-old man was found hanging inside his shop in South Delhi's Sangam Vihar on Sunday. Police said that he had cut himself on the chest and sent the selfie of the same to a woman with whom he was in a relationship. However, the police claimed that they are probing the case from all angles.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar claimed that a PCR call regarding a suicide at cable office Sangam Vihar area was received in the morning at around 9 am on Sunday.

A police team reached the spot which was a shop named "Swami Cables". A person identified as Laxmi Narayan, a resident of Tigri, was found hanging from the hook of the ceiling fan with the help of the cable wire.

He further claimed that the spot has been inspected with the help of crime team and the body was sent for post-mortem. Further investigation revealed that the deceased has been married for over 16 years and has two sons from that marriage.

DCP South claimed that he also seems to be in a relationship with some other girl outside his marriage, with whom he frequently chatted over WhatsApp and on the phone. Police further stated that on Saturday night, he talked to that girl and sent his pictures after consuming liquor.

"He seems to have cut himself on the chest and sent the selfie of the same to her. Inquest proceedings have been initiated as the matter is found of suicide. Further investigation in the matter is underway," said the DCP. The case is been probed from several angles.
