Man crushed to death by truck in Kalyanpuri
New Delhi: On the way to home in Srinagar, a 36-year-old man was crushed to death by a truck in which he was travelling. The incident was reported from East Delhi's Kalyanpuri area.
The deceased's brother said that he was the only bread-butter earner in the family. Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Raqib. He had worked as a labourer in Ghazipur area.
On May 28, he (deceased) with his brother Khadim Hussain Kasana was returning home to meet his three children and wife. The truck driver was also native of Jammu and Kashmir.
"We usually came to Delhi from Srinagar in the truck for labour job and later returned through the same way. This time we came on Sunday," said Khadim, deceased's brother.
He told police that around 2 AM the truck in which we were returning reached the flyover near NH-24.
"The driver was driving rashly and suddenly applied the brake. My brother who was sitting on the top of the vehicle fell down. Mohd Raqib came under the wheel and his head was crushed," Khadim further told the police.
At the time of the incident, Khadim was sitting near the driver. The victim was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police were alerted about the incident.
"The accused driver was nabbed by me on the spot," added Khadim. Deceased's brother further said that he did not know how Raqib fell from the truck. "For his family, Raqib was the only bread-butter earner," further said the brother. A case under has been registered.
