Interstate firearms syndicate busted, 10 pistols seized
New Delhi: Crime Branch has busted an interstate illegal firearms syndicate and have recovered a huge cache of firearms and ammunition. The police have arrested a man named Shamsuddin involved in illegal gun running. He was supplying firearms to criminal elements in Delhi and NCR. Shamsuddin was arrested from Dwarka Sector-23 on
"In the wake of forthcoming General Elections to the Lok Sabha, special drive against illegal arms supplier has been launched by Crime Branch of Delhi Police. In order to make the drive successful and effective, staff of the Inter-Border Gangs Investigation Squad of the Crime Branch have been especially briefed to collect intelligence and take appropriate legal action against the arms suppliers.
An in-house study into the growing use of illegal firearms over last few years revealed that in most of the cases, illegal weapons used in the commission of various crimes in Delhi, were manufactured and supplied from Mewat, Mathura and Madhya Pradesh to the criminals active in Delhi and NCR.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he had procured the illegal country-made pistols from his associate in Mathura. He also disclosed names of persons who had bought firearms from him in Delhi and NCR region. Ten country made pistols and 10 cartridges have been recovered from him.
