In Nov-Dec, 7L households to benefit from zero charge power bills: TPDDL CEO

NEW DELHI: In power tariff, AAP government had taken revolutionary steps to provide free electricity of 200 units for domestic consumers in Delhi.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Banga stated that 7 lakh households will be benefitting from a zero charge for the electricity bills in the November-December. In the September, which were the first tariff after announcement in August, in TPDDL areas nearly 4.90 lakh of 17.19 lakh consumers availed the first waiver bill.

It is pertinet to mention that in August, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had mega announcement that "our government will give full subsidy to those consuming up to 200 unists of electricity and an almost 50 per cent subsidy to consumers using 201 to 400 units. Since the AAP came to power in February 2015, the Delhi government has been providing 50 per cent subsidy on power bills.

Banga asserted that some extent consumers used AC in September but they stopped AC appliances during the November and December. It means that consumers will get more benefits from waive off schemes.

The Company CEO Banga said that in summer those who used up to 200 units of electricity was 35 percent of total consumers, while in the winters number will increase to 70-75 percent as the power usage.

TPDDL is providing power in north and West Delhi, where in September, 4.90 lakh of 17.19 lakh consumers availed the waiver scheme.
