Implement MMI plans at metro stations: LG tells DDA

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal on Tuesday directed the DDA to implement Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) plans at metro stations to ensure a seamless transition of commuters between various modes. LG Baijal expressed concern on the slow progress on the implementation of MMI plan for metro stations and the lack of coordination among the various agencies like DMRC, PWD, Traffic Police, Municipal Corporations, DTTDC, etc.

"The LG has approved conceptual Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) plans for 60 DMRC Phase-III metro stations and 10 MMI plans for existing metro stations (Phase I and Phase II) during last 4 years. MMI is planning of the immediate zone around Metro Stations to integrate ISBT/ Local Bus Stand or feeder buses or IPT Modes, wherever feasible it also includes approach roads, pedestrian walkways, parking areas for various modes including feeder buses/ Intermediary Paratransit (Auto, Shuttle bus, e-Rickshaw) or Non- Motorised Transit or private modes and adequate public conveniences etc," noted an official statement.
