Husband-wife duo held for selling stolen phones

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a couple who were purchasing stolen mobile phones from snatchers in East Delhi's Kalyanpuri area. The investigating agency revealed that the accused were selling mobile phone to labourers in less price.

According to police several active criminals who have just come out of jail on bail have been questioned and efforts were made to understand the pattern that is how the case property was being disposed off. "An information in this regard received to police personnel that a woman resident of Kalyanpuri, New Delhi was receiving mobile phones from the criminals," police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh said that a trap was laid near Sanjay Jheel, Opposite Kotla village and a 30 years old woman and her husband identified as Dildar Singh (35) were arrested. One of the suppliers identified as Suraj (23) was apprehended and 46 mobiles phones were recovered from their possessions.

Investigation revealed that the woman and her husband were in close with intact of many criminals who snatched mobile phones. Dildar had spent many years behind the bar where he came in contact with several criminals who were involved in pick pocketing, snatching and robbery wherein mobile phones were being targeted.

DCP Singh added that he along with his wife started purchasing such mobile phones and started selling them to people in their locality such as labourers. It was further disclosed by them that their network is spreading in Delhi and NCR.
