Health services affected in Noida hospital as 100 nurses go on strike

The strike by over 100 contractual nursing staff and other workers at Gautam Buddh Nagar District Hospital affected work at the hospital on Monday morning for more than five hours.
Operations could not be conducted at the hospital and health services got stuck for this time as the nurses kept away from work in protest against the non payment of their salaries from past two to three months and renewal of their contracts.
"We have been working without getting any wages since past two to three months. The contract has not been renewed by the agency. Our future is in dark and we demand that the district administration should look into the matter. We will intensify our protest if the demands are not met," said one of the protesters.
Meanwhile, a senior resident doctor from the District Hospital said, "the staff is hired by private agencies and their contracts are renewed by the Noida Authority. They work on a three months contract in the hospital which is renewed after that period by the authority. The wages are paid to them by the agencies. There is no point to lead any protest and raise their demands with the hospital. We will talk to the agencies and the authority to look into the matter as the strike is affecting the health services of the hospital".
