Govt to give `1cr each to kins of deceased firemen

The AAP government on Saturday announced Rs one crore compensation for each firefighter who died in the Vikaspuri cylinder blasts incident.

This apart, one family member of each of the deceased will get a government job and free education for theirs kids.

On Friday morning, two firemen have died in the line of duty and two other firemen were severely injured after an LPG cylinder exploded when they were fighting a blaze at a shop in West Delhi's Vikaspuri area .

According to the Delhi Fire Services, fireman Hari Om succumbed to his injuries at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Fireman Hari Singh Meena was declared brought dead at Park Hospital, Khyala. Two other firemen are undergoing treatment at BLK Hospital.

As per the Delhi government's policy, compensation to the tune of Rs one crore is given to the kin of uniformed services personnel killed on duty.
Delhi Home minister Satyendar Jain, who met the injured firefighters at hospital, termed the incident as "unfortunate" and said that prima facie, there were no procedural lapses noticed on the part of firemen in tackling the incident.
