Girl killed, sister critical as private bus hits their Scooty

Ghaziabad: A 19-year-old girl was killed while her 22-year-old sister was critically injured after a private bus hit their Scooty in Kavi Nagar area on Friday morning. Cops said that the driver fled away from the spot leaving the bus behind and a case has been registered against him for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.

According to police, the incident occurred near Shyam Prasad Mukherjee park in Ghaziabad around 8:30 am on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Akansha (19) while her sister Reena (22), was injured in the incident, said police.

As per victim Reena, the incident occurred when both the sisters were going for work.

"It was around 8 am when we left our home for work. Akansha was driving the Scooty and while taking a turn on the road near Shyam Prasad Mukherjee park, a bus hit our scooty. Both of us fell on the road and Akansha was trapped under the wheels of the bus. She was dragged for a few meters while her head was badly crushed in the incident," said Reena.

A few passersby took both the girls to Sarvodaya Hospital in Kavi Nagar where Akansha was declared dead by the doctors while her sister has been admitted for treatment.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the unidentified bus driver. "Based on the complaint received, an FIR under section of 279 (rash driving) and 304A (death due to negligence) of IPC has been registered against the bus driver. The accused fled away from the spot leaving the bus behind and we are trying to identify him on the basis on bus registration number and CCTV footage from nearby area," said Anil Shahi, Station House Officer of Kavi Nagar police station.

Akansha is survived by her four sisters, mother and father. One of her family members said that she had been working as a computer operator at Kanha sweets to gather some money for her studies and wanted to do B.tech further. Also her family had planned to arrange a surprise house party for her upcoming birthday on October 8, the family member said.
