Girl dead, several injured in road mishap in outer Delhi

New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl died while seven others were injured after an SUV coming from the other side lost control and hit several vehicles in outer Delhi's Meera Bagh area on Wednesday.

Police officials said that they have started the investigation in the case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P Kuruvilla claimed that the teenage girl Seema died at the spot.

"The driver of Fortuner car, identified as Dr Kamal Kumar Beharai, who also got injured during the accident, lost control of the vehicle resulting in the accident," said the senior police official.

"The SUV hit a cycle, a scooty, a motorcycle, a rickshaw and a minibus before coming to a halt," he added.

Police are trying to identify the other injured victims. They are also investigating the fact whether the deceased was hit by another vehicle when she was crossing the road. It is suspected the SUV was being driven at a very high speed, which led to the incident.
