Girl abducted, gang-raped found dead; one arrested

GREATER NOIDA: A 24-year-old man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the abduction, gang-rape and murder of a Class XII girl in Dadri, whose body was found from a creek in Dankaur police here said on Friday.
Cops said that the accused, identified as Anil Sharma, and the teenage victim were reportedly neighbours in Dadri.
The accused, a resident of Bulandshahr, resides in a rented accommodation, while the girl lived with her parents nearby. Sharma would reportedly frequent the girl's house, whom affectionately referred him as 'uncle'. A senior police official from Dadri said that on December 12, the girl had gone to her school, but did not return home in the evening. Alarmed, her family began searching for her, but found no clues of her whereabouts.
The girl's family suspected Sharma's involvement in her disappearance, as he used to often visited their house. After finding out that the accused was missing as well, the girl's family registered a complaint against him at Dadri police station.
Cops mounted surveillance of the accused's mobile phone and traced him to Ambala.
A police team reached Ambala and arrested the accused on Wednesday from his friend's house. Police said he confessed to raping the minor several times in captivity in two weeks. On Friday, Dhananjay Singh, SHO, Bulandshahr City said that the girl's body was found on Thursday near the creek in Dankaur by some locals, who informed the police.
