Ggn homes become happy hunting grounds for burglars

Gurugram: If you are planning to move out of Gurugram for a few days with your family leaving your house unattended, you better be wary.

There have been a spate of brazen crimes where burglars are targetting homes and, in the process, successful looting lakhs in the form of cash and jewellery.

In the past few months, the victims of burglaries have ranged from businessmen, to MNC professionals to retired Army officer. In addition to bungalows in posh residential colonies, high rise condominiums are also being successfully targetted.

In most residential colonies like Palam Vihar, Ardee City, Sushant Lok and Sector-56, residents have complained that not only are they targetted by burglars, but are robbed during the day.

"Robberies have been a major law and order problem in the city. However, the biggest concern is most of these criminals are targeting houses even in the daylight and are also successful in their attempt. Ironically, not only are these people targeting wealthy houses but even the middle classes are not secure," said Ranjit Dhawan, a city resident.

"As the population of the city increases, crimes like robbery also will be reported on a large scale. We have taken cognisance of it and are taking actions. In most of the cases we have been able to attain success," said a senior official from Gurugram Police.
