Gas agency robbed in broad daylight in Sahibabad

Ghaziabad: In yet another day light robbery in Ghaziabad, two armed bike-borne assailants allegedly stole around Rs three lakh in cash at gunpoint after barging into the office of a gas agency in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on Monday.

According to police, the incident took place at the office of Bharat Gas Agency, located in Bhoupura Road of Sahibabad.

Police officials said that around 10 am, when the office had just opened, two bikers reached the spot and looted cash from the cashier of agency at gun point.

The agency operator, in his complaint, told police that the two criminals had first come to the agency at around 9 am and enquired about a new gas connection.

Later, they came again around 10 am, and threatened the cashier of the agency on gunpoint.

They looted around Rs 2,79,000 in cash from the cashier and fled away, the agency operator told cops, adding that the accused also thrashed the cashier when he tried to resist.

"Based on the complaint received, we have lodged a case under relevant sections of robbery. The sketch one of the looters has been released for public to identify him.

"The one who identities the criminal will be given suitable reward and his identity will be kept secret," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad.

The officer further said they are looking into CCTV footage of the area and assured that the culprits will be nabbed shortly.

This is the third incident of robbery in Ghaziabad in less than two weeks. Earlier, on November 14, armed robbers barged into a jewellery showroom in Shyam Park area of Sahibabad and fled away taking cash and jewellery worth Rs two crore. This incident also took place in broad daylight.
