Four youth held in Dwarka for multiple thefts

New Delhi: Twenty-year-old Rahul's parents had him admitted to a good school in Rohtak with a dream that getting him educated would lift the family from the clutches of poverty.

Their dreams, however, came crashing after Rahul, along with three others, was arrested from Dwarka's Palam Road on Sunday.

The other accused have been identified as Vinay (21), Pradeep Kumar (22) and Akash (18), said cops, adding that the youth turned to crime to earn an easy money and to fuel their lavish lifestyle.

With the arrests, more than 10 petty criminal cases registered in different police stations in Delhi have been solved.

The arrest was made by the team of Dwarka North police station during patrolling.

"The accused persons also admitted their involvement in various cases of robbery, snatching, burglary and theft of cars, motorcycles and scooters," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said on Sunday.

Revealing the gang's modus operandi, the DCP Alphonse added that youth used to recce areas of Dwarka in the day and target select places at night.

The gang had recently stolen seven vehicles from Dwarka district and trying to dispose off the same. Alphonse added that during investigation, tools to break into homes and shops were also recovered.
