Four drug peddlers held with 225-kg of ganja in Gr Noida

On specific inputs, a special operation was carried out by the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police against the drug peddlers active in the district on Friday and arrested four with 225-kg of Ganja hidden in a truck near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
This is one of the biggest catch of dry marijuana (locally called ganja) worth around Rs 55 lakh found hidden in a truck bearing a Haryana registration number. A Maruti Alto car bearing a Delhi registration number was also seized from them.
The accused were identified as Uday Singh from Bulandshahr, Sandeep from Ghaziabad, Nitesh Kumar and Raju Yadav from New Delhi. Police said the ganjha was to be distributed amongst peddlers.
"Kasna Police station staff led by SHO Jitendra Kumar detained one truck bearing registration number HR69A1204 near Pari Chowk.Upon searching the truck, about 225 kg of dry ganja were found concealed behind driver's compartment. All the packets were air tight, air sealed. The estimated value of the ganja is about Rs 55 lakh that is a conservative estimate," said Suniti Singh, Superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar.
"Two of their accomplice somehow managed to flee away from the spot in a red coloured Hyundai Creta car. We are interrogating the arrested persons to know the whereabouts of their accomplice and also the source from where they use to get the drugs. They have been sent to jail and a case under sections 8/20 NDPS act has been registered against them," added Singh.
