Five person kill youth, try to pass it off as accident

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday said that they have arrested three persons and apprehended one juvenile who killed the 20-year-old youth in the Shahdara district area. The accused tried to pass off the murder as an accident by throwing the body on to the railway tracks.

According to the police, the deceased identified as Samad was on his way for a job interview to Bareilly when the incident took place on September 15. His body was recovered in two pieces on railway tracks in Vivek Vihar. "The doctor said the cause of death is a hemorrhagic shock as a result of antemortem injury to the neck and its associated blood vessels produced by the sharp single-edged weapon," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dinesh Gupta.

The officer further claimed that more than 60 suspicious persons found near Shahdara to Vivek Vihar track were rounded up. Later, one accused Deepu was zeroed down who confessed to the crime. Other accused identified as Pradeep, Akash and one juvenile were apprehended. "On the day of the incident, someone had snatched the mobile phone of Samad when he was inside the train. Later, the victim went back to the same place and found five accused standing and enquired from them about the person who snatched his mobile phone. "Hot argument ensued between them which led to a scuffle. The four accused caught him and one juvenile attacked Samad on his thigh, neck and face," said DCP Gupta adding that accused are drug addicts.

A relative of the deceased Mohammad Qadir claimed that soon after Samad's mobile phone was snatched he made a phone call to his sister from an unknown number and informed her about the incident. "Samad told her that he was going back to the snatching spot to get back his mobile phone," said Qadir. He further stated that since then there was no contact with the victim. The family members visited Bareilly, Meerut, Ghaziabad in search of Samad. Later, they went to a police station in the city and came to know about the incident. "A few months ago, Samad left his job at a company in Bareilly and came back. He deposited some money there. To collect that he was going there when the incident happened with him," said Qadir. The police team led by Inspector (ODRS) Vimal Kumar cracked the case. The juvenile who stabbed the victim lodged in Nasha Mukti Kendra after his release he will be apprehended.
