Five labourers killed, 7 injured in Gurugram road accident

Gurugram: Five migrant workers were killed and seven got injured after being hit by a truck in Bilaspur area of Gurugram in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

According to Gurugram Police, two of the deceased have been identified. The migrant workers were returning home to their village in Uttar Pradesh.

The accident took place on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Manesar, they said.

A group of around 15 to 20 labourers were trying to move to their hometown in Uttar Pradesh. At the old toll plaza gate, a speeding truck rammed into the group killing five people on the spot. The truck was carrying fruit and vegetables. After the incident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The Gurugram Police has registered the case against the truck driver under the Sections 279 (Rash driving), 336 (endangering the personal safety of others), 337 (causing hurt) and 304 (causing death by negligent driving) of the Indian Penal Code.
