Fire in Punjabi Bagh godown, 1 dead

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at an oil godown in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area on Saturday afternoon. The fire department received information at 4.57 pm, following which 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, according to a senior official. Black thick smoke could be seen from a distance.

"One dead body was found from the first floor of the building ," said Atul Garg, Chief Fire officer.

"A PCR Call received in Police station regarding Fire at TPT Centre, Punjabi Bagh. The EO and all the staff at-once rushed to Building No.106 & 107 TPT Centre Punjabi Bagh. Where heavy fire engulfed the above said buildings. From local enquiry it has learnt that all the building are used to store Lubricant oil.All the adjoining buildings were evacuated," said a senior police officer.

Earlier, three people were charred to death in a major fire that broke out on July 13 at a brass water tap factory in Jhilmil industrial area of Shahdara.

On July 5, a fire broke out on the sixth floor of the Directorate General of Health Services's (DGHS) building housing office in east Delhi's Karkardooma area.
