EOW registers case of cheating on plaint by Delhi govt department
New Delhi: Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing on Monday registered a case of cheating on the complaint by an officer from a Delhi govt department. The law enforcement agency says that the complaint was regarding cheating and fraud causing loss to government for a sum of Rs 15 crore by fabricating, forging documents.
Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Suvashis Choudhary confirmed the case and said that investigation is going on and no arrest has been made.
According to police, a case has been registered on the complaint of Proper Officer (AVATO, Department of Trade and Taxes), NCT of Delhi. "It has been alleged that one Pankàj Chawla got registered with VAT Department by furnishing fake documents and false information which is PAN Card and address details," police said. The officer further added that the person fraudulently availed input tax credit amounting Rs. 15.80 Cr on the basis of fake invoices causing loss to the government exchequer.
A case under sections 420/417/467/468/471/120 B IPC and 132(1)(b)(c) CGST Act, 2017.
