Enraged over wife's adultery, man kills minor daughters

In a horrific case from a village in Gurugram, a man killed his two minor daughters in front of their mother before surrendering himself to the police.

The incident was reported from Bajghera village around 10.00 pm on Saturday. The culprit has been identified as 40-year-old Mukesh Yadav, hailing from Sitamarhi district in Bihar, who was working as a construction labourer in the city.

Suspecting that his wife had an illicit affair, Yadav killed his daughters, three-year-old Pooja and five-year-old Neha, by smashing their foreheads in with bricks repeatedly till they died.

He, however, did not attack his two sons who were also in the house during the gruesome incident.

While trying to save their daughters, Yadav's wife also received injuries when he attacked her with the brick. According to police, Yadav was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.

After committing the crime, Yadav called up the police control room to confess the heinous crime, upon which police personnel, along with the SHO of New Palam Vihar police stationm rushed to the spot and arrested him.

On Sunday, Yadav was presented before a local court, following which he was sent behind bars. Police have registered the case at New Palam Vihar police station under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

"I regret what I have done. But it was all done in the heat of the moment. I was very angry with my wife who had an extra marital affair with one of the persons who lives around our neighbourhood. It is unfortunate, but her price was paid by my daughters," the accused Yadav told police.

"What has happened is indeed shocking. We have arrested the accused and put him in prison. We will be inquiring about his mental state which caused him to commit this ghastly act," said a senior police official from Gurugram Police.

It may be noted that the incident took place on the day when a district court sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for brutally killing his wife and stepdaughter in a different case.
