Eid Milad-Un Nabi celebrated amid tight security

New Delhi: The security in Delhi remained tight on the occasion of Eid Milad-Un Nabi on Sunday. The senior police officers were patrolling the street in their respective districts.

Meanwhile, the city police have made elaborate arrangements for 550th Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev. According to police, as many as 21 additional company including central armed police force (CAPF) were deployed in the city to make sure no untoward incident took place.

"Tight vigil was maintained on the areas of central, north, east, north east and south east districts," said a senior police officer. Additional PRO, Anil Mittal said that Delhi Police had made elaborate arrangements on the occasion of Eid Milad-Un Nabi.

"Adequate number traffic police personnel were also deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic," said Mittal. According to police, senior officers were patrolling in their respective districts. In the wake of the Supreme Court judgement regarding the Ayodhya matter on Sunday, security was tightened in city.

"Arrangements were made particularly to cover vulnerable areas of mixed population and places of worship. All PCR vans, ERVs and Raftaar motorcycle patrols were alerted to maximise patrolling," police said. Supervisory officers monitored on the ground deployment and alertness of staff. Senior officers including CP, Delhi were on rounds covering several areas of mixed population of Delhi including Walled City.

The Delhi Police also issued a traffic advisory. On the occasion of 550th Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev, a nagar kirtan procession will be taken out by the devotees on Monday (November 11). The procession will start at 10.00 am from Sishganj Gurudwara and conclude at Gurudwara Nanak Piao, G T K Road at about 9 pm. "There will be thousands of devotees, many horses, school children, many aksharas and bands in the procession," police said.

The Delhi Police's Press statement regarding their traffic arrangements read that route of procession will be Shish Ganj Gurudwara- Kodiapul- SPM Marg- Church mission road- Khari Baoli- Lahori Gate Chowk- Qutub Road- Azad Market- Roshanara Road- Shakti Nagar Chowk- Gurudwara Nanak Piao.
