Easy arms supply from Western UP a cause of worry for cops

New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested three men for trying to kill a man in Jamia. However, it might seem to be a case of three arrest over a parking scuffle and later an attempt on the life of the man where he was shot at his limbs in Jamia Nagar of South East Delhi, but the underlying issue of procuring arms and ammunitions easily from adjoining areas of Delhi specially Western UP and using them freely in the capital has raised the eyebrows of Delhi police.

The three arrested men Shakeb, Samad and Sameer opened fire on a resident of Zakir Nagar whth whom they got into an argument over the settling of a parking issue with his nephews approximately one and a half month back. The three men confronted him on May 31 to teach him a lesson.

They cornered the victim at around 1:30 and started beating him. The accused Shakeb also pulled out a pistol and hit on the head of the complainant with the butt of the pistol. After that accused Rizwan also opened fire and all the accused persons fled away. The police team then raided several parts of the capital and arrested the accused from ISBT after they were trying to flee from Delhi to their native places in Western UP.

"During sustained interrogation, accused persons disclosed that they all are native of Western UP and they had shifted to Jamia Nagar along with their families and relatives in search of some work. They further disclosed that they had procured illegal arm from Western UP only and they kept it with them just for show-off purpose and to create terror among locals," said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.

Accused Shakeb and Sameer are from Meerut in Western UP and Samad is from Firozabad. Earlier too, the cops have raised concern over Socio-economic disparity and high influx of migrant population as one of the major factors of a critical carcinogenic problem in the national Capital.
