DU student alleges gang-rape, 5 arrested

A Delhi University student was picked up from Lajpat Nagar by one of her friends and taken to Haryana's Faridabad where she was allegedly gang-raped by five men. The girl was taken to Faridabad on a motorbike by two of her male friends, one of whom had joined them mid-way.

When they reached there, she alleged, two other persons joined them and all four took turns to rape her. She was also raped on her way back to Delhi by a different person. Apart from these five men, the role of another person is under scanner who reportedly, did not rape her but was a party to the conspiracy. The cops have arrested five and are looking out for the last accused.

The alleged incident happened on February 3 when a friend of the girl, Sachin, convinced her to go to Faridabad to a party after their annual function. The unsuspecting girl agreed to it. Sachin then came on a bike and picked her up from Lajpat Nagar. Later, a friend of theirs, Gaurav, joined them on the motorbike and the three travelled to Faridabad.

The girl alleged that after they reached Faridabad, she was taken to one Rohtash's house and one Sunny joined them. She was given a drink laced with sedatives after which she became drowsy. The four men then took turns to rape her. In the influence of the sedatives, the girl was not able to raise an alarm.

After this, she was sent to Lajpat Nagar in one Vinod's car. The girl alleged that Vinod too stopped the car on the way and raped her.

The girl later came to South-east Delhi's Lajpat Nagar police station on February 18 to lodge an FIR and narrated the incident to the cops.

"Realising the sensitivity of the matter, we formed several teams to nab the accused. During the investigation, we found that all the four accused are from Faridabad," said Additional DCP (South-east) Rajeev Ranjan.

After several teams were rushed to Faridabad, the cops gathered intelligence to know about their whereabouts.

"We raided at possible hideouts of the accused and have arrested five persons. We are looking for the last accused as well and would soon arrest him," added the officer.
