Driver dies after speeding truck collides with trees

Gurugram: A truck driver identified as 44-year-old Hakimullah died after the truck, he was driving collided with the trees at the Gurugram-Alwar Highway on Friday morning. His helper who has been identified as Abrar has also sustained injuries on head and neck and has been admitted in the hospital in Gurugram where he is presently getting treated.

According to law enforcement officials, the truck was coming towards Ferozpur Jhirka when at around 7:00 am it suddenly lost control and hit the nearby trees.

According to law enforcement officials, the main reason for the crash was overspeeding by the truck. Moreover, the Gurugram police have also cited that the truck was heavily overloaded and was carrying the material beyond its capacity.

The impact of the crash can be gauged from the fact that around five trees into which the four-wheeler rammed into were completely destroyed.

"The accident occurred in the morning and at a time when there was less rush on the road. Had there been vehciles, the accident would have caused more damage. We have identified the persons in the truck and have informed their families about the tragic incident," said an official from Gurugram police.

In a worrying trend, this is the fifth major accident that has occured withing two weeks at the Gurugram- Alwar highway. This has resulted in three deaths and 12 injuries. Previously also there have been many cases where the highway has witnessed various deadly mishaps.

The incident follows just after a day when 10 passengers narrowly escaped death after the bus they were travelling hit the divider at the Delhi-Jaipur Highway and overturned.
