Doctor found murdered in her clinic in Indirapuram

Ghaziabad: A 40-year-old doctor was stabbed to death inside her clinic in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad on Thursday night. Police suspect the murderer to be familiar with the doctor, however a case has been registered against unknown persons.

According to police, the incident took place in Makanpur village in Indirapuram. The deceased identified as Dr Sarla, resident of Nayay Khand-2nd area used to run her clinic named Family Health Care. She was a gynecologist and used to work for pregnant ladies delivery at their houses if required, a senior police officer said.

As per victim's husband, Dr. Sarla used to reach home from clinic, last by 10 pm daily but on Thursday when she didn't reach home till 12 am, her husband made a call but her phone was switched off.

"Upon finding her number switched off even after several attempts, we rushed towards her clinic and found her lying in a pool of blood on a stretcher at her clinic. We immediately alerted police and informed them about the incident," said Sanjunath, victim's husband.

Police said that the victim died of stabbing and had multiple injury marks on neck, abdomen and legs.

"As the information was conveyed, a police team rushed to the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Prima facie it appears that the murderer was familiar to the victim however we are investigating the case and are expecting to nab the accused soon," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad.

Police have registered an FIR against unknown accused and are looking into the call details of the victim to trace the accused.

"The doctor didn't have any CCTV camera installed in her clinic, however, we are looking into the CCTV footage of nearby area to get any lead into the case," added Kumar.

Meanwhile, victim's family members alleged that a minor girl and her boyfriend could be behind the murder.

A near-relative to the victim said that a 16-year-old pregnant girl, who was a patient to the victim, had come to her for getting an abortion. Dr. Sarla refused her and also threatened to inform her family if she comes again. The family suspects that the girl along with her boyfriend murdered the doctor to avenge.

However police are not ruling out such possibility and are investigating the case from all the angles.
