DJB extends LPSC waiver scheme till April 30

The benefits of 100 percent waiver on LPSC (late payments surcharge), due on accumulated arrears in respect of commercial connections of Delhi Jal Board, will remain in effect till April 30, clarified a Delhi government official on Monday.

Referring to a circular dated March 1, the official noted: "The government has already approved the extension of scheme for waiver of 100 percent LPSC due on accumulated arrears' in respect of commercial connections of DJB on all bills generated upto July 31, 2016 on payment of all pending principal dues."

Similarly, the announcement regarding the reduction of one-time sewer and water development charges for new connections by 80 percent in unauthorised colonies will also prevail till April 30.
It may be noted that the Delhi government had reduced sewer development charges from Rs 494 per square metre to Rs 100 per square metre and water development charges from Rs 440 per square metre to Rs 100 per square metre.

As per the previous rates, people living unauthorised colonies had to pay Rs 98,800 for a plot of 200 sq metres. As per the new rates, however, a user will only have to pay Rs 20,000, saving Rs 78,800.
