Delivery boy used his biking skills to commit snatchings

New Delhi: Unhappy with his job profile, a 20-year-old delivery boy for an e-commerce company, along with his friend, turned to auto lifting and robbery. However, luck ran out for Momin, after he was arrested on New Year's Day by South East Delhi Police.
Police said that Momin wanted to lead a lavish life, for which he and Ayaan first stole a scooty and snatched a mobile phone.
Momin, a resident of Okhla village in Jamia Nagar, was arrested during vehicle checking at CV Raman Marg by a team of police team from New Friends Colony police station on Monday evening.
A country-made pistol and the stolen scooty were recovered from his possession.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said that Momin had been working as a delivery boy in Okhla and was unhappy with the job, which required him to meet a target of delivering 80 packets per day and would pay him Rs 15,000 per month for it.
Looking to earn a quick buck, he met Ayaan at a birthday party and the two quickly became good friends.
Ayaan used to clean vehicles in a parking lot and the two began discussing ways to enter the world of crime.
For this, they first stole a scooty and arranged a pistol to commit robberies and snatching. "Momin had become an expert biker after working as a delivery boy.
"He knew how to speed up, had good knowledge of roads and was well aware of the dark spots where pedestrian are usually helpless and vulnerable," said the DCP.
