These locations include Terminal-I of IGI Airport, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Delhi Haat and Jama Masjid.

Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Thursday flagged off five refurbished tourist patrolling vans of the PCR Unit at India Gate C-Hexagon.

Each tourist patrolling van will be manned by police personnel, including women staff with specialized training in hospitality, behavioral skills, working knowledge of English and general tourist information.

The vans have been provided with city maps, literature on tourism, brochures, auto-taxi fair charts and important telephone numbers etc, for distribution to the tourists.

"I urge you all to put in efforts in such a manner, that other states' police should also emulate Delhi Police initiative and tourists return to their respective places with fonder memories of the capital," Patnaik said, addressing the tourist van staff.

"Special training has been provided to the staff for interacting with foreigners. They are also trained in English language so that they are well versed and are confident dealing with foreigners. We hope that the tourists would be happy intetracting with the tourist PCR van staff," said Special Commissioner of Police Traffic Taj Hasan.
