Delhi Minority Commission reconstituted

The three-member Delhi Minorities Commission was reconstituted here by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday. The previous panel had completed its term earlier this year.
The newly-constituted Commission will be headed by renowned scholar and journalist Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, with Anastasia Gill and Kartar Singh Kochhar as the other members.
The members will serve for a period of three years, after Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal gave his assent to their appointment. Dr Khan is a PhD from Manchester University in Islamic Studies and has worked for several for international organisations. Kejriwal approved and recommended the three names to the LG, after they were proposed by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
The Divisional Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Revenue) had mooted the proposal to the Delhi government for taking the decision to appoint the chairman and members of the Commission.
