Abide by traffic rules, Delhi Police tell kanwariyas

The Delhi Police has decided to go tough with law on kanwariyas (Shiva devotees) and have advised the men to follow traffic rules when they enter the capital or will face procecution.
The traffic police will also record any traffic violation that is carried out in the name of Kanwar Yatra and will also keep an eye on the Kanwarias.
"The devotees and road users are advised to follow the traffic rules and obey the directions of policemen on duty. During this period of Kanwaria movement, traffic violations will be monitored and initiated on the spot prosecution and will also be captured by photography or videography of violations which will be followed by prosecution," said Narendra Singh Bundela, Joint CP Traffic.
The Delhi Police has also made massive arrangements for the Kanwad Yatra in which the Kanwarias, destined for Delhi and different cities of Haryana and Rajasthan, will start reaching Delhi on foot from July 10 onwards, where their number will start increasing from July 14.
To facilitate their movemt the traffic police has made several routes from where the Kanwarias would pass in Delhi.
The main routes of the Kanwarias through Delhi would be Apsara Border – Shahdara Flyover –Seelampur 'T' point –ISBT Flyover – Boulevard Road – Rani Jhansi Road – Faiz Road – Vande Matram Marg – Dhaula Kuan –NH-8 and exit from Rajokri Border to enter Haryana.
In South East Delhi Kalindi Kunj –Mathura Road –Badarpur Border and from New Rohtak Road (From Kamal T-Point to Tikri Border). The Kanwarias would also pass from Najafgarh Road (From Zakhira to Najafgarh).
The traffic police has made diversion plan during the days of heavy rush after July 14 till July 21.
HTVs will be diverted by UP Police from Mohan Nagar towards NH-24 and no such traffic will be allowed towards Wazirabad Road via Bhopra Border and or towards GT Road via Apsara Border.
HTVs except city buses will not be allowed on GT Road towards Shahdara and Wazirabad Road.
Heavy commercial transport vehicles, except city buses, coming from GT Karnal Road at Outer Ring Road will be diverted straight towards NH-24 and will not be allowed to move on Wazirabad Road and G.T. Road towards Shahdara. Heavy commercial transport vehicles, except city buses coming from internal areas like Sonia Vihar, PTS Wazirabad Pushta, Pushta Road will be diverted towards Outer Ring Road via Wazirabad Road to take NH-24.
"We will also keep a close eye if some anti social elecment in the guise of kanwarias enter Delhi." said Deependra Pathak, Chief spokesperson, Delhi Police.
