Body of 7-year-old wrapped in 'ladies suit' helps police track killer

Days after the body of a seven-year-old girl was found in a trunk floating in a canal in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura, cops have arrested the accused on Monday.
The accused Ibral had tried to sexually assault the girl and when she resisted he gagged her mouth to silence her, suffocating her to death.
Then, he packed the body and stuffed it in a trunk.
Also, his mother after discovering the trunk had asked him to dump the body in a nearby canal. After this, he fled the Capital. The police managed to crack the case after they found that the girl was wrapped in a ladies suit. They tracked the owner of the suit and found that the woman who owned the cloth was the wife of the accused.
"We found the trunk floating on June 28 near Kartar Nagar. The body was identified as that of a seven-year-old girl who was found missing on June 21 after which a case of kidnapping had been lodged at New Usmanpur police station," said DCP (north-east) AK Singla.
After scouring through the area, the police finally reached the house of the accused. After questioning the family members, his mother confessed to her son's involvement. Ibrla had tried to flee to Loni area in Ghaziabad and was caught by the cops. He was arrested from New Usmanpur.
"The main motive was sexual assault. But some of his family members may have known about the incident. Their roles are being probed into," Singla added.
