Duo held with fake currency of Rs 97,600 in Ghaziabad

Two people were arrested on Friday by the Ghaziabad Police with counterfeit currency in the denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500, having a face value of Rs 2, 97,600, said police.
"Acting on a tip-off, the district police intercepted them near a juice corner at Meerut Road in Ghaziabad. The arrested duo was held with 79 fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 with a face value of Rs 1, 58, 000 and 183 notes of Rs 500 with a face value of Rs 91, 500. Rest of the notes were in the denominations of Rs 100," said H N Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Ali hailing from Muzzafarnagar and Vinod from Haryana, he confirmed.
"During interrogation, it was revealed that the mastermind of the gang is Arvind, who hails from Muzzafarnagar. He is the one who gives fake currency notes to them after getting 40 percent of the total cost in original currency notes.
Recently, Arvind gave them fake currency notes worth Rs 4 lakhs out of which they successfully managed to run Rs 1, 02, 400 in the local market of Muzzafarnagar and came to Ghaziabad to rescue the rest. Our search is on to nab the mastermind of the Gang," added Singh.
