'I sexually molested my grand daughter for six months,' confesses 64-year-old

"I was sexually molesting my 5-year-old granddaughter on several occasions for the past six months," revealed the 64-year-old man during his interrogation.

The accused and his wife were residents of Jamshedpur but used to visit their son in his sector-59 residence in Gurugram.

For a long, no suspicion was cast on the accused but after the minor started showing signs of physical discomfort, her mother became wary and began inquiring about her health.

It was later revealed that the minor was raped following which a complaint was filed against the elderly couple at the women police station under the section 506 (criminal intimidation) IPC and sections 6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act have been registered against the accused rapist.

His 59-year-old wife too was charged with aiding and abetting the crime.

On guessing that they will soon be out behind the bars, the elderly couple tried to flee London but were held at Mumbai airport by the Gurugram Police.

The accused duo has been sent to Bhondsi Jail.

"The couple have admitted to their crime. We have sent them to the prison. We are also in touch with the minor's family and trying to assist them in every possible way.

Understanding the girl is a minor we do not want to put much pressure on her," said a senior Gurugram official.

The heinous crime again brought to the light of rising number of sexual crimes against minors in the Millennium City.
