DCW wants FIR against the family of an intercaste married couple

New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to Delhi Police to register an FIR against the family of a girl who is threatening to kill her and her husband for marrying a boy outside her caste.

The girl informed the Commission that she is a resident of Delhi and went to Jaipur to study where she stayed with her paternal uncle and aunt.

There, she fell in love with a boy who belongs to another caste.

She informed that when her uncle and aunt learnt about her relationship, they objected to the same and tortured her physically and mentally.

"The girl was recently rescued by an NGO Love Commandoes and has married the boy who belongs to another caste. Since their marriage, they have been unable to meet the boy's family who they suspect are being tortured by the girl's uncle," claimed DCW.

The girl along with NGO representative recently met with DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal and asked for her help, who assured all possible help to the girl. She issued a notice to DCP South East District in the matter and recommended registration of FIR.

She also has requested Delhi Police to provide security to the couple as the girl has expressed fear for their life.
