Cylinder explosion in Geeta Colony kills 13-year-old

NEW DELHI: A 13-year-old, boy succumbed to injures in a Delhi hospital after he was injured in a cylinder fire in Shahdara's Geeta colony.

The incident was reported on 6 May. Five members of a family were seriously injured after an LPG cylinder caught fire in a residential building in Geeta Colony area of Shahdara.

Four are now still admitted and undergoing treatment including a woman and her two brothers.

Her husband also got injured in the incident. The neighbours then called fire brigade and the local police.

"The family had a bhature business and when they were preparing bhaturas early in the morning to supply the same in the market, the cylinder caught fire injuring five of the family members. Two of the brothers of the woman also helped them in their business who were injured too," said a senior police officer.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The injured were rushed to the hospital where Deepak was admitted with severe burn injuries. 13 year old Deepak succumbed to the injures on Wednesday. The rest of the family members are still undergoing treatment.
