Couple found dead in Chhatarpur: Cops find strange writings on floor of house

New Delhi: Investigators probing the case of a couple found dead in south Delhi's Chhatarpur on Tuesday said they saw strange writings about 'suicide' and 'evil' on the floor of the room where the bodies were recovered.

Police said that on Monday night, a neighbour woman called police after she received no replies when she repeatedly knocked on the couple's door.

Cops soon reached the spot and broke open the door, only to find the woman on the floor with her throat slit and the man hanging from the ceiling.

An investigator told Millennium Post that sentences such as 'Suicide is last resort of Depression' and 'All are Evil' were found on the floor.

"We suspect that the man, 26, first killed the woman, 23, and then killed himself. The matter is being investigated from all angles," he added.

Forensic and crime teams recovered two mobile phones, a knife – allegedly the weapon of offence – and a note – reportedly written by the man – from the house. The note stated the woman did not care about the man anymore.

"The phones will be scanned to get clues and to know whether any calls were made to anyone else before the incident," said the investigator.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar said that inquest proceedings under Section 174 (suicide) of the CrPC have been initiated with respect to the man and his family has been informed.

The DCP further said that proceedings under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC have been registered at Mehrauli police station regarding to woman and her body was handed over to her family after post-mortem.

A senior police officer claimed that the man – who worked in digital marketing – was very possessive about the woman – who worked as a graphics designer – and the two were in a live-in relationship.

"He used to make several phone calls to her and was so obsessed that he never wanted her to talk to any other person," said the officer.

The couple had come to Delhi from Kolkata earlier this year and started living together soon. Investigators are also searching whether there was a third phone.
