Cops asks women accompanying Ashish Pandey to submit statement

New Delhi: Delhi Police has asked for the statement of the three women who were at Hyatt Regency Hotel where Ashish Pandey was arrested for brandishing a pistol at a couple, with police sources adding they have sent emails to the three women.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court sent Ashish Pandey to 14-day judicial custody on Monday.

Sources also told Millennium Post that the women, believed to be living in foreign countries, had accompanied Pandey for the entire duration of the incident.

"Once they send their statements, further investigation will take place," said the police official.

A video of the incident, which took place on October 13, showed Pandey hurling abuses at a woman and a man accompanying her.

The three women accompanying Pandey, one of whom recorded the video while the other two sat in the car, were also heard abusing a couple at the hotel's foyer.

Last Friday, Pandey – son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey – had been sent to judicial custody till Monday after his bail plea was rejected by the court.

After he had surrendered last Thursday, Pandey was arrested.

The court, while denying his bail, said the arrogance and high-headedness germinating out of possession of a firearm was clearly seen.
