Construction companies fined Rs 3.5 lakh for generating pollution

New Delhi: SDMC has taken action during first three days of December against seven construction companies involved in generating air pollution in the city. Each company has been fined with an amount of Rs 50,000 resulting in recovery of Rs 3.5 lakh. The Companies are NBCC/Shapoorji Pllanji, ITPO, L&T Construction Transportation and Infrastructure, Bhairo Road, SJ Kumar for DMRC, Sarai Kale Khan, DMRC Okhla, Spencer ISP Network Okhla. The building department has stated that the action will continue in the coming days.

Commissioner Dr Puneet Kumar Goel on Sunday evening issued clear directions to the zonal DCs, concerned SS, SI, ASI to effectively use their challan power under the NGT rules and mandate in order to save the city from becoming dirty and mound of garbage at different places. The DEMS department has been asked to concentrate on social functions like Bhandaras inside and outside religious places, marriages and birthday parties and other events. The strict instructions have been issued against spreading wastes of such kind i.e. used plates, donas, plastic cups etc will not be tolerated at all. On Sunday night, the zonal teams took action against burning of leaves and garbage, throwing of used plates, plastic cups, pattalls etc. They issued 180 chlallans during their action.
