Clear pending enquiries against cops promptly: CP to officers

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik directed senior officers to clear the pending enquiry against police personnel promptly and on merit basis.

The police chief also directed Joint CsP to ensure that DCsP and Additional DCsP attends the weekly parade regularly organised in districts and units.

Sources added that in a meeting held last month between the top brass of city police where as many as 705 departmental enquires (DEs) were found pending with enquiry officers in different districts and units. Further 143 DEs were pending for the decision of disciplinary authorities. It was also reported that total 3,025 show-cause notices for censure were pending as on August 31.

Sources added that the CP directed that this pendency must be cleared on merit without undue delay. An officer of Special Commissioner of Police rank was directed to call a meeting of all Special CsP and Joint CsP. During the meeting, he exhorted all the officers that integrity must be at the core of all our actions as members of Delhi Police. "We have a "zero-tolerance policy" towards any deviation from this norm. This must be reiterated during the "sampark sabhas" and must be brought home until the last rank of this force," CP told officers.

Sources said that a Special CP, in the meeting, stated that this year till September 12, as many as 332 police officials have been added to the doubtful integrity list, while names of 271 police personnel have been removed from the list of doubtful integrity. Doubtful integrity (DI) cases of 417 police personnel were also reviewed.
