BSF bus rams into scooty at Lodhi flyover, woman killed

New Delhi: In a major accident at Lodhi Flyover, a 28-year-old woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a Border Security Bus early morning on Wednesday.

The woman was going to Kalawati hospital along with her husband and 7-year-old daughter. Her husband and the daughter were admitted to the hospital with serous injuries. The bus which was carrying BSF jawans has been impounded and the driver arrested.

According to police, the PCR received a call at around 11 am in the morning that an accident has taken place and a bus has hit a scooty carrying a family.

Immediately the staff from Nizamuddin police station rushed to the spot. By this time the injured man and his daughter were already shifted to the hospital while the dead body of the woman was found under the wheels of the BSF bus. She has been declared dead by CAT ambulance.

"The woman was identified as Neelofer. She was going to Kalawati hospital for the treatment of her 7-year-old daughter Khushi. The girl was having fits since she was 2-year-old. Her husband Jamil who was driving the scooty suffered injuries along with the child. Unfortunately, Neelofer could not survive the accident. Jamil works as a hawker in Madangir," said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.

During the enquiry, it came to light that injured and his wife along with her daughter Khushi were going to Kalavati Hospital at CP area but when they reached at the slope of Lodhi flyover, the BSF bus which was going to Pragati Maidan to drop the BSF staff from Tigri, hit from the backside. The driver of the BSF bus was found on the spot and identified as HC Ramesh Chander Sharma.

The police have recorded the statement of the injured man and a case under sections 279/337/304A IPC has been registered against the accused driver.

The driver was immediately arrested from the spot. The police have also informed the BSF authority about the incident and the action taken.
