Broken escalator at Noida station irks commuters

While swanky Metro stations may excite some commuters, others, particularly senior citizens, are disappointed as an escalator at Noida City Centre Metro Station are not functioning.

Raghav Behal, a senior citizen who was visiting GIP Mall, pointed out that the escalator has not been working for more than ten days. He said he does not expect it to be functional within the next few days either.

Meanwhile, Delhi Metro officials said that the escalator had some issues a few days ago, but was rectified soon. "On Thursday, again some technical issues occurred with the escalator and rectification work is under process," an official said.

Noida City Centre is the last station in the Noida section of the Blue line and sees heavy footfall and a non-functional escalator causes severe inconvenience to commuters, especially during peak hours.

Metro staff said that if the escalator cannot be repaired it will have to be replaced.
