BJP wins Gurugram, Faridabad by massive vote margins

Gurugram: If there is one word which can be described for the scale of victory for BJP in South Haryana constituencies of Faridabad and Gurugram, it will be massive. While in Gurugram, Rao Inderjit won with over three lakh fifty thousand votes in Faridabad, it was even higher for Kishan Pal Gurjar whose votes difference from his rival Avtar Singh Bhadana in Congress was over six lakh votes. Historically the trends in South Haryana seats of Gururgam and Faridabad decide what Haryana decides and it was no different this time.

The massive margin by which BJP won in Gurugram and Faridabad was reflected in the rest of the state as the saffron party achieved its best haul by winning almost all the seats. Co-incidentally just 10 years back, BJP did not have any standing in the state and had to rely on the alliance of regional parties for fighting polls.

It was not supposed to be so simple for Rao Inderjit Singh who was contesting against Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, six-time MLA from Rewari. Yet, the 69-old old four-time MP from Gurugram Rao Inderjit not only bettered his previous record but in effect won by over three lakh fifty thousand votes. "I want to thank the voters of Gurugram who again laid their trust on me. I am committed for working towards their welfare," said Rao Inderjit Singh, the Gurugram candidate. For the opposition, the situation was even worse in neighbouring Faridabad which competed with Karnal of how large the voting difference would be and will set the national record.

In effect, Kishan Pal Gurjar extended his lead first to three lakh to five lakh and then a mammoth lead of six lakhs from his rival Avataar Singh Bhadana. Such was the wave that the AAP state President Naveen Jaihind who was contesting his second Lok Sabha elections lost his deposit for the second time. "People of Haryana are nationalist and this was reflected in these elections where people gave emphasis to national issues and in effect defeated dynasty and regionalism that was promoted by the opposition," said Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar.
