Bizman shot dead by unidentified assailants in Ggn

Gurugram: A local businessman, identified as Mahendra Verma, was shot dead on Sunday evening by unidentified assailants.

Police on Monday said that Verma, 39, was involved resale of second-hand vehicles and was a resident of Jyoti Park

On Sunday, he had left his office at around 7 pm. When he did not return home, his wife filed a complaint. During patrolling, cops saw his body lying in Dhankot area at around 11.00 pm.

Originally believed to be an incident of road rage, cops are also investigating the angle of murder due to personal rivalry. A case under appropriate sections has been filed, police said.

"Vital leads have come to us in the case. We are trying to investigate those aspects. We will soon be able to make a headway in the case," said a senior official from Gurugram Police.

Incidents of shootouts on the busy streets of Gurugram is not a new phenomenon. In a worrying trend, brazen shootouts and assaults are not only reported from the outskirts of the city, but even in densely populated areas such as MG Road, Sohna Road, Jharsa Road, and Sector-9A.

In the past, dreaded gangsters, their spouse, realtors and even former journalists have been eliminated by their rivals or detractors through shootouts.

In one such notorious incident on February 11, a man identified as Sanjay Gujjar lost his life after being shot 17 times in Bilaspur.
