Bizman shot at, robbed of ` nine lakh in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 40-year-old businessman was critically injured after being shot by unidentified assailants, who fled after robbing him of Rs nine lakh, in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad early Monday morning.
Police said that Mukesh Sharma, the victim, was on his way to Sahibabad wholesale market in his car and was accompanied by his father.
Around 5 am, six men took over his car in Vasundhara on gunpoint and told him to handover the bag containing cash.
When the businessman tried to resist the robbery attempt, they opened fire on him and fled away, taking the bag containing Rs nine lakh, added police.
"After the information was communicated, a police team rushed to the spot and took the victim to nearby Narendra Mohan Hospital, from where he was referred to Yashoda Hospital, as his condition was critical," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad.
Police suspect that an acquaintance of Sharma is involved in the incident.
"Prime facie investigation shows involvement of a known person.
"The incident was pre-planned and the miscreants knew that Shamra was carrying cash in his car. Investigations are underway and we will conduct search at various suspected locations to nab the culprit," added Tomar.
