Bizman shoots self dead in south Delhi's Mehrauli

New Delhi: A 43-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide in south Delhi's Mehrauli area on Thursday, with Delhi Police claiming it has not found any suicide note from the spot.

The investigating agency further said that the victim Amit Gupta's business was reportedly not running well and he had some family dispute.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijayanta Arya said that Gupta, who lived in Mehrauli, owned a business of selling construction material.

"A self-inflicted gunshot wound was found on the temporal area of the victim," said the Additional DCP said.

She further said that Gupta's body bore two wounds on the head, an entry and an exit wound.

After Gupta's death was reported to the cops by his family, a crime team reached tha spot and recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from the spot.

Gupta's body was taken to a hospital in Vasant Kunj by his brother, where he was declared brought dead. Cops recorded statements of his father, wife and other family members.

According to senior police officers, the family was the first to know about the suicide, who immediately informed police informed.

"We are probing the reason behind the suicide, as no note was recovered from the spot," a senior officer said, adding that questioning of the family members is going on to get the clues.

The body of the deceased has been preserved at the AIIMS Mortuary, while proceedings under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code have been initiated.
