Amrapali CEO arrested over fraud charges

Gautam Budh Nagar district administration on Monday arrested and sent to jail two officials of realty group, Amrapali.

The arrested duo includes Rithik Sinha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the realty company and Nishant Mukul, director of the group. The move comes following the realtor's failure to pay an outstanding labour cess of Rs 4 crore for the last three years.

On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath expressed disappointment over the irregularities in the real estate sector and directed the government officials to take strong steps.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar DM, BN Singh formed a team under Dadri SDM, Amit Kumar. The team raided the head office of Amrapali builders at sector 62, Noida and arrested the duo and sealed the premises. The duo will be kept in judicial custody for next 14 days. "Both the CEO and the Director of the builder's group have been arrested. They were several notices issued in the past regarding the payment of Labour cess worth Rs 4 crore 29 lakhs" said Rakesh Chauhan, Information Officer.
