Airline staff under police scanner for approving improper travel document

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have started their investigation in a case where a person travelled to UAE in expired visa and later deported back.

Police said that they are probing the role of an airline official who gave ok to board certificate to a flyer on improper document.

According to police, on October 8 one Gobind Pandit arrived as a deportee from Sharjah, UAE by Air Arabia flight.

During scrutiny of his travel documents, it was found that the UAE immigration authority deported him with a reason of improper visa. Pandit was questioned thoroughly in this regard.

"During questioning, Gobind has revealed that he intentionally altered to extend the expiry date of UAE tourist visa," police said.

The deportee used the forged UAE tourist visa to take departure immigration clearance at IGI airport on October 7.

"An airline staff confirmed that the visa was correct and provided necessary OK to board endorsement behind his departure boarding pass. Gobind original visa was expired on August 8,2019 as per online verification," police said. The airport staff handed Gobind to Delhi Police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia said that they have got the complaint in this regard and case was registered.

The role of the airline staff is being probed. Police have registered a case under sections 420, 468, 471, 120B of IPC at IGI airport police station.
